The superintendent's opening convocation (Tuesday 9/5/06) on Thinkbright will be simulcast via Quicktime Streaming. Read more for details...

Since we have some schools without access to Cable TV, we will be simulcasting the Superintendent's speech on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 9:30 pm.

What you need:

  • A fairly fast Mac or PC (G4 eMac or Pentium IV PC)
  • Ethernet connection
  • A way to present the broadcast (an overhead projector, or a Tandberg unit connected to your computer as a monitor)
  • Quicktime 7 installed (preferably the Quicktime 7 pro for full screen (e-mail scaher@buffalo.k12.ny.us for the registration code.) Please note- you will need to have admin privileges and Deep Freeze (if installed) must be unlocked.

What to do:

Method 1:  Quicktime Reference file.

  • Download this Quicktime reference file: Convocation06.sdp.mov (Right click- Save to disk)
  • Save this file to an easy to find location- for example: the Desktop.
  • Double click the file to open Quicktime Player and view the live streaming video. If the stream stops playing for any reason, click the play button again.

Method 2: Manually enter the stream URL in Quicktime player.

  • Start Quicktime Player.
  • Choose File-->Open URL  OpenURL
  • Enter  'rtsp://172.28.127.208/convocation06.sdp' in the url field, click ok.

  • The video stream should start playing- resize the window to the desired size, or switch Quicktime Player to full screen mode if you have the Pro version.

Notes:

  • The stream will be available at certain times on Thursday and Friday before the convocation.
  • We'll be restarting the stream about 5 minutes before the presentation is to begin
  • If there are difficulties (eg.- we have to restart the stream)- close the video window, and re-open the URL in Quicktime Player.
  • The video stream is only available from within the district network.
  • Call Scott Nourse at 816-3048 ext. 8777 if there are any last minute questions.
