RE:       REGULATION / PROCEDURE UPDATES FOR BOARD POLICY
         #7210 STUDENT EVALUATION

On September 17, 2008, The Buffalo Board of Education was informed of two
new regulations that are attached to Board Policy #7210 on Student Evaluation. These
regulations are for immediate implementation. The regulations are:

1.   Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Courses

All Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, district-
wide, will use the weighting rate of 1.1 to calculate each participating student’s
grade point average. All other examinations, Regents & District, will use the
weighting rate of 1.0 to calculate each participating student’s grade point average.

2.   Elementary and Intermediate Promotion Policy (see attached) which is a
change from 7210R – Pages 1 – 4 located in both the BCSD Policy Manual and the
BCSD Administrative Manual Sections 2000 – 8000

Both these changes are the result of the combined efforts of both school level and
central office administration. If you have any questions on their implementation, please
feel free to contact Carl Kogler in the Office of School Performance, 816-3035.
