The Instructional Technology department will have a Inservice today. On the agenda: ESIS Update, Produce a Podcast, Designer E-mail, Xerox Tips and Tricks, NoteBook Rollout, and QuickTime Pro 7.

Instructional Technology is planning a staff development day to be held at the Buffalo Professional Development and Technology Center, 150 Lower Terrace, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. today.  (As always there is free parking in the BPS lot on the south side of the WNED building.) Download a copy of the agenda by following the link in the Related Items section.

On the agenda:

  • Update on ESIS rollout
  • Produce Your Own Podcast
  • Xerox Tips and Tricks
  • NoteBook Rollout
  • QuickTime Pro 7

Mike Hume, Supervisor of School Administrative Technology, will talk about the status of the implementation of ESIS, the new student information system. When the role in the implementation and support of the new system has been defined, there will be a more in-depth training session.

Greg Hall, Apple Systems Engineer, will show the group how to produce their own podcast in a hands on session and also demo some new software. At the next meeting, the teachers who won the use of an ipod for their school, will present the podcasts, they produced.

Scott Nourse, District Team member, will demonstrate ways to "harness the power of the Xerox printing." He will demonstrate how to print from the web without installing drivers or configuring a printer, print  class sets duplexed, stapled and hole punched and use secure printing.

Donna Raczynski, District Team member, will rollout the newest Mac addition to the district software catalog, NoteBook. The program uses a spiral-notebook metaphor for capturing and organizing notes, files, outlines and multimedia. Install information/codes will be made available to all participants.

Bill Russo, Supervisor of Instructional Technology, will show how to create "designer e-mail" using Lotus Notes features to give e-mails a web page look with images, color etc.

Ike Smith, assigned to School 33, will walk the group through the new features of QuickTime Pro 7. People attending the session will receive an install code for QuickTime Pro 7.

Lunch will be from 12:30 to 1:30 in the BPDTC cafeteria. Bill Russo and Guy Rizzuto, Executive Director of Information Technology, are providing a holiday lunch for the group.

At the end of the day two ipod shuffles will be raffled off. You must be present to "win." Please remember to fill out the online evaluation by Wednesday, December 14. Your input and comments are invaluable in planning relevant inservice sessions that directly impact the performance of students in your schools.

You might want to edit the description because someone just pasted on to a previous notice for the 6 day CATE training.
