Panther Server: Binding the Child to the Parent

1. On the workstation, launch Directory Access
  (Macintosh HD:Applications:Utilities: Directory Access)




2. In the Directory Access window :
   (a) Disable NetInfo
   (b) Enable LDAPv3




3. Click Configure.

4. Click New.... at the bottom of the window.

  Configure as shown below:
  (a) Do not check Use DHCP-supplied by LDAP server
  (b) Type in the name of your server in the Server Name field
  (c) Check Enable
  (d) Select Open Directory Server from the drop down menu.




  (e) You will be asked to provide the Search Base Suffix in the next
    window. (This information is case sensitive. There are no spaces.)

  This Search Base Suffixcan be found in Server Admin: Open Directory.




        Copy this




  (f) Click Okay in the Search Base Suffix Window.

  (g) Name your configuration if you choose.

  (h) Click Okay.


5. Change where to search for user authentication information.

  Click on the Authentication tab.

  Select Custom path from the Search drop down menu.

  Click Add.




  Select /LDAPV3/server.XXX.buffalo.k12.ny.us Click Add.




6. Restart the Workstation.
