Update to Firefox 2.0.0.1
If teachers in your schools are still having problems accessing webmail or handling attachments using Firefox on their Macs, they may need to update their browsers. Webmail functions correctly with version 2.0.0.1 Donna Raczynski, TIS #19, #67, and #42, shares the handout she created for her faculty to help them through the update process.
To Update Firefox on Your iBook Laptop
In order correct problems accessing webmail or handling attachments in
Lotus Notes, everyone needs to upgrade Firefox on their laptops.
1. Open Safari and type www.mozilla.com/firefox in the address bar.
2. Click on the Download Firefox-Free picture. It will automatically
start downloading.
3. Click Continue on the application warning window.
4. Click Accept on the license agreement window.
5. Close the Downloads window and quit Safari.

6. Open the Macintosh HD.
Resize the window so you can see the Firefox window next to the HD window.
7. Drag the Firefox icon to the Applications folder on the left hand side
of the HD window and release it when you see a green + sign on the
Applications folder.
8. Click Authenticate on this window.Type administrator for the
name and laptop for the password. Click OK.
9. Close the Firefox window when it’s done copying.
10. Eject the Firefox image by clicking the eject button next to Firefox in
the list on the left side of the HD window.
11. Open the Applications folder. Next open Firefox. This will open
the new version of Firefox. If it asks you about importing preferences,
decide if you want to import from another browser or import nothing.
If you get the Default Browser window, click on the checkmark to
deselect it and click No.
The icon on your dock will automatically update. Your homepage will still
be the same as it has been when you open Firefox the next time.
