Inspiration Training Document

Step-by-step instructions for using Inspiration software. This program allows teachers and students to create graphic organizers which can be used to develop writing skills.
                                                      Inspiration
Inspiration is a computer program that creates graphic organizers.

1. Open Inspiration.

2. Type your central topic in the Main Idea box (make sure the words Main Idea are
  highlighted).

3. To add subtopics, click RapidFire button at top of screen. Type first subtopic, press
  Return. Type next subtopic, press Return. Repeat until done. Notice new ovals
  appear.

4. To add details, click on one of the subtopics (oval is selected when handles
  appear around it), click on a Create arrow at the top of the screen (there is a choice
  of eight), and type detail information. Repeat as needed. For each subtopic, make
  sure the subtopic oval is selected before adding a detail oval.

5. To view in outline form, click Outline button at top of screen. This helps students
  organize their writing into paragraphs.

6. You can customize your web by changing graphics and text.

* To change the oval to a graphic, click on the oval and select a library of graphics by
clicking on the down arrow on side toolbar and highlighting desired choice. Click on
your graphic choice.

* To change the text, highlight the text. Go to the Format menu at the top of the screen
to change font, size, and style. To change the color, select Text Color tool on bottom of
screen and slide to desired color. You can change some font formatting and symbol
colors here also.

7. To add student name, select Text Box Tool on bottom of screen. Make sure
  nothing is selected, then draw a text box. Type information.

8. To change the page orientation, go to File to Page Setup. You can preview your
  document by going to File to Print Preview to see if portrait or landscape would be
  best.

9. Select Print from File menu.
