Step-by-step instructions on using the student and teacher components Harcourt Trophies Mission Comprehension software.
Harcourt Trophies Mission Comprehension Software Directions - Grades 4-6
For the teacher:
1. Log on to computer as readingteacher and use harcourt as the password; select
Reading Teacher group; open Harcourt Teacher folder; open Grade_TMS
Teacher Apps folder.
2. Double click Level (A, B, or C) TMS icon.
3. Type password: teacher1
4. Click OK.
5. Click Add on Classes side of window.
6. Type class name.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Add on Students side of window.
9. Fill in information (Class is a drop down menu - drag to select; can assign same
Password to each student)
10. Click OK when done.
11. Repeat steps 8-10 until all names have been added (names will alphabetize
automatically in teacher side only).
12. Click Exit.
13. Choices on Classes side of window: Add - add another class name; Edit -
change class name; Delete - remove class name; Reports - gives scores of all
students for each focus skill, can be printed
14. Choices on Students side of window: Add - add a student; Edit - change student
information; Delete - remove student name; Reports - gives number correct,
current score, time in minutes, number of attempts, average, can be printed
For the Student:
1. Log on to computer as readK (or read1, read2, read3, read4, read5, or read6
depending on grade level) and use K (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 depending on grade
level) as the password (If you get a message saying the user is unable to log on,
Restart the computer and try again). Select Reading(grade) Group, click
Continue.
2. Click icon on the dock.
3. Click on class name. Signing on as a Visitor allows use, but won’t track progress.
4. Click on student name.
5. Type password (not case sensitive). A new student may be added here.
6. Click OK.
7. Select lesson number (skill shows on right of console).
8. Click Go.
• Students can refer back to the passage at any time.
• Dots along right side of screen will go down automatically as students
progress through lesson. To manually select an area, students may click on
dot and areas will appear: Skills, Warm-up(practice activity), Passage A,
Passage B, Comparing Passages, Games (choice of 2) - click on Skip
to Next Section.
• If students choose incorrect answer, a hint on how to find the correct answer
will be given.
• After signing in and choosing lesson, skill lessons pick up where student left
off. The level will appear on the right hand side of the box above the
console.
