Step-by-step instructions to use Harcourt Trophies Phonics Express software. This software is for grades K-3.
Harcourt Trophies Phonics Express Software Directions - Grades K-3
For the teacher:
1. Log on to computer as readingteacher and use harcourt as the password; select
Reading Teacher group; open Harcourt Teacher Group folder; open
Grade_TMS Teacher Apps folder.
2. Double click Phonics Express Level_(level) TMS program icon.
3. Type password: teacher1
4. Click Enter.
5. Select On or Off on Teacher Management System.
6. Click Sign-In/Class List tab.
7. Click Create a New List - name the list.
Other options on Sign-In/Class List area: Edit List Name - make changes
to class list; Delete List - remove selected class list
8. Click Enter.
9. Click New Student Name.
Other options: Edit Student Name - make changes to selected name;
Delete Student Name - removes selected name; View Student Report
- see and print student’s performance; View/Edit Student’s Current
Location - see students in each class; Print All Reports - prints results for
each student and their activities
10. Type First and Last names.
11. Click Enter.
12. Repeat steps 11-13 until done (names will alphabetize automatically).
13. Choose Sign-In Options, User’s Path Through the Program, and Class
List Printing Options.
14. Click Quit.
15. Click Quit.
For the Student:
1. Log on to computer as readK (or read1, read2, read3, read4, read5, or read6
depending on grade level) and use K (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 depending on grade
level) as the password(If you get a message saying the user is unable to log on,
Restart the computer and try again). Select Reading(grade) Group, click
Continue.
2. Click icon on the dock.
3. Click on Group List name. Signing on as a Visitor allows use, but won’t print
report.
4. Click Go.
5. Select name.
6. Click Go.
7. Click on a car to pick skills to review.
8. Click on a route to pick more specific skills to review.
9. Click on a place to address a specific skill.
• Names of pictures are spoken when student clicks on them.
