Apple Remote Desktop is a utility for managing, controlling, and viewing Macintosh OS X based computers. Teachers can use ARD to observe, control, and interact with their student’s computers. Network administrators can use ARD to remotely update, control, install, and manage practically any aspect of the computer’s operation. Apple Remote Desktop version 2.1 has new features that allow controlling permissions to be assigned using the user’s network login. For example: User000 can add workstations to their ARD Workstations list using their own User000 and their password. This document will detail the steps for setting up a school to take advantage of this powerful tool.
