                      <description>This is a common Firefox error that happens only in the Mac managed world. One sure fire way to fix the problem is to delete the user's home directory. Not the best method. Read on.</description>

<p>If you cannot open Firefox and see the error message <em>Firefox is already open</em> and–you know it isn't–try the following. It seems to work.<br /><br /></p>
<h3>Go <strong>User's Home Directory:Library</strong>:</h3>
<p class="discreet"><span class="visualHighlight">(Where is the User's Home Directory:Library? Under the <strong>Go</strong> menu at the top of the screen, select <strong>Home</strong> from the drop down menu. Find the<strong> Library</strong>. This is where you will be doing most of your work.)</span></p>
<ul><li>Open the <strong>Application Support </strong>folder. If there is <strong>a Firefox</strong> folder there, throw it in the trash.<br /><br /></li><li>Locate the<strong> Library:Mozilla</strong> folder. Throw it in the trash.<br /><br /></li><li>Open the <strong>Library:Preferences</strong> folder. Find the following and trash:<br />com.apple.LaunchServices.plist<br />com.apple.mcx.manifests<br /><br /></li><li>Open the <strong>Library:Caches</strong> folder. Find the following and trash:<br /><strong>Mozilla </strong>folder<br /><br /></li></ul>
<h3>On the Macintosh HD</h3>
There is a Mozilla folder in the <strong>Macintosh HD:Library</strong>

<p>The Instructional Technology Department of the <a href="http://www.buffaloschools.org/" target="_self">Buffalo Public School district</a>
in Buffalo, NY. is dedicated to using computers and technology to
improve student performance. This site is a portal to the district's
staff development, support documentation, and technology resources.</p>
