A 21st Century Technology Vision for the Buffalo Public Schools
From the district's A Technology Plan for Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century (pdf)
21st
century societies are increasingly dependent on information. Successful
functioning in society demands the ability to problem solve using a
variety of technological tools, the ability to communicate clearly, as
well as the ability to interpret massive amounts of ever-changing
information.
It
is the Buffalo Public School district’s purpose as reflected in the
Buffalo Comprehensive District Education Plan, to graduate students
with the ability to live and work successfully in the twenty-first
century.
It is the district’s belief that the use of
technology, as a tool, will improve teaching and learning. The use of
technology in the classroom fosters a natural integration of
curriculum, thus empowering students to take command of their learning.
Technology accommodates a wide range of learning styles and levels the
learning field for students. It fosters collaboration, cooperation, and
is highly motivational for many learners.
