Want to share your iCal Calendar?

Not up to setting up a WedDAV enabled server to share your iCal Calendar with your colleagues? Consider sharing your calendar using iCal Exchange. It is free and easy to use. Download the step sheet.
Sharing Your Calendar

To share your calendars, you are going to use iCal Exchange.

First, POST your calendar to the web.

Open Safari or Firefox and go to the iCal Exchange site.
http://icalexchange.com

Next you will need to create an account.

Click on the create link.




Fill in the blanks, providing your email address and choosing a username
and password.

Click Submit.

You now have an account and a place to save your calendar on the web!




Click the View your account link.

You will be asked to authenticate. Supply the name and password you created
when you created your iCal Exchange account.

Copy the URLs at the bottom of the next screen. This will be the location of your
calendar on the web.




Make a note of this information for future use. This is important.




Your second task is to PUBLISH your calendar.

On your computer, open iCal.

Select the calendar you want to publish.

Select Publish from the Calendar Menu.




Select Private Server from the drop down menu. There are other options you
can check. I would check Publish changes automatically.




Click Publish.

You now will be asked to supply:
 • Your calendarʼs URL. Choose the address that uses the public folder.

    Your iCal Exchange name and password.

    A name for your calendar which contains your name…Sharonʼs Cal

Click Publish.

There will be a short conversation between your computer and iCal Exchange.
You now will get your subscription URL. This will be shared with the other
members of the department, so they can see your calendar.




                                   


Copy this URL and save it in a safe place. This is important.

E-mail this URL to everyone in the department, so they can subscribe to your
calendar.



And finally, SUBSCRIBE to your colleaguesʼ calendars.

Open iCal.

Choose Subscribe from the Calendar menu.

Paste in the calendar address you received in an e-mail. (The address should
begin with webcal: )




                                         


Click Subscribe.

You will be given a chance to set how you would like to see the calendar. You
can even rename it.




Click OK when done..

VIEW the calendar.

Turn down the twisty next to the Subscriptions heading to see the list of the
calendars to which you now subscribe.

Select the one you wish to view.
